Licensing & Tags
Because we work with MLD permits, all whitetail tags come from us. Texas residents need a valid Texas hunting license. Non-residents need a basic Texas non-resident license. Even if you've tagged out elsewhere, the HWH tags are still good.
Booking & Payment
A $2,000 deposit is required to book your hunt. The remaining balance is due after your harvest. Call or text Cole at (903) 821-3439 or email cole@hwhwhitetails.com to lock in dates.
What To Bring
Your bow, broadheads, and a few layers — North Texas weather swings from warm October mornings to low-30s rut-week sits. Practice gear is welcome; we have field-point and broadhead targets at the lodge.

What's the booking deposit and payment schedule?

Do I need a Texas hunting license?
Yes. Texas residents need a valid Texas hunting license. Out-of-state hunters need a basic non-resident license. The whitetail tags themselves come from us — we hunt under MLD permits, so HWH tags are good even if you've already tagged out somewhere else.
When is the hunting season?
Our hunts start at the end of September / beginning of October and run through the first part of February. The best rut dates fill earliest — reach out well in advance to lock in those windows.
Is this an archery-only outfit?
Yes. High Wide & Heavy is archery only. We're built around the bow — every hunt, every blind, every guide.
How long is a hunt?
Every package is a 3-day hunt. Morning and evening sits, plenty of time to rest, reset, and prep for the next outing.
What's included in the price?
Food and lodging, an experienced personal guide, transportation around the property, comfortable specialty archery blinds, and the skinning and caping of your trophy.
What's NOT included?
Taxidermy, game processing, and the shipping of antlers or capes are not included — but we can recommend trusted people who offer those services if desired.
Can I bring a non-hunter?
Absolutely. Our lodge has four bedrooms (five beds) and four baths, so guests are welcome to bring additional non-hunters for a small fee.
What's the weather like?
North Texas weather is typically warm through mid-October, followed by cool spells that can drop temperatures into the low 30s by early November. It does get chilly in the wintertime, but our quality blinds mixed with a few layers of clothes will keep you comfortable for longer sits.
Where exactly are you located?
We're nestled near the small town of Whitewright, Texas — about an hour northeast of Dallas–Ft. Worth. We'll send you directions and arrival details when your hunt is booked.
What does the lodge offer?
Four bedrooms (five beds), four bathrooms, satellite TV, WiFi, home-style breakfast and dinner served daily, and a back porch overlooking the hardwoods. Plus field-point and broadhead targets on-site so you can stay sharp between sits.
Can I bring my own drinks?
Yes. Coffee, soft drinks, and bottled water are stocked and available to all guests — and you're welcome to bring any other beverages of your choice.
